Propagating + Baby Plants

Advertisements

Green thumb, brown thumb, maybe ” I give up” thumb? I’m sure we’ve all been there one point in our lives. We wonder why we can’t seem to keep any plants alive cause we either forget to water, over water, lack of light or maybe the combo of all the above.

Sometimes we just need a little guidance and a little research to figure out what type of plant fits our needs, even if it means the fiddle tree (the one that has cost me several dollars).

So I started with the “Chinese Money Plant” aka the pilea peperomioides. I purchased mine from Traders Joes, I believe cost $6.99. Once I notice 2 little bundles starting sprouting, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to propagate these babies.

Once I cut,  I was able to transplant this bud into a pretty glass test tube (so you can see how the roots are growing).

With the reminding mother plant, I add some fresh soil to give it enough nutrient in case I disturbed the roots.

Happy propagating creative fam! Remember this is a great way of growing your collection without having to purchase more plants. (Safe to say my propagating plants are thriving and hopefully will be soon to plant!
