Paper Tassels + DIY

I’ve always wanted to share the fun in making these paper tassels that seem so popular yet expensive to purchase pre-made. Making my fair share of paper tassels, I’ve learned the easiest and simplest way to do it.  (Tip: Purchase your fun tissue paper from TjMaxx or Marshalls, they usually run from $2.99 to $9.99) Only reason why I love picking my fun colors from there is because they have more choices besides the basic colors.

Let me break down instructions to simplistic directions:

  1. Fold issue paper,  width-wise. Refold issue 2 more times and clip the non-flap side with another fold.
  2. Cut with sharp scissors straight down, not passing the folded piece till you’ve got flaps straight throughout.
  3. Unclip tissue paper, open the entire piece which would leave you with cut pieces on each side.
  4. Fold straight down the entire tissue paper till it gathers on each side.
  5. Make a loop, and grab a thin stick and pull it through the loop and twist the stick till it tightens up and grab tape to secure the loop.

Voila!! You’ve got yourself your first paper tassel!! Happy Crafting friends!!
