Poshmark, I’m sure you’ve heard of it. So many opporunities by using the application but there are alot of downfalls to it as well. (Don’t get me wrong, its amazing if you are on top of the site, working the system to your advantage) Unfortunately if you aren’t posting, interacting, being consistant-the traffic to your page doesn’t increase.
Now for someone that want to make money (in one lump sum) and stop hoarding clothes in containers, consignment may be more of an ideal option. Fortunately in my local area we have an annual event called “Scarlet Thread Boutique”, that hosts an opportunity for individuals like myself to sell clothes, make money, have an option to donate what doesn’t get sold WHILE making new friends!
Since this was my first time participating in this event I figured out some amazing tips and tricks that worked out for myself. Every person may have their system but I utilized what I had around me.
First, I pulled out the laundry dryrack. I didn’t want to spend money buying a hanging rack, so I used what I had. Depending on the type of clothing, I’d categories each side of the panel according to department. I left the top portion for my maxi-dresses and anything that required much more length to hang.
Clothes pins : Dollar Tree (count 36)
Plastic White hangers : Target (15/$2.00)

The most important part for me was jewelry, making sure they weren’t going to tangle during preparation and delievery. The simple use of hangers was the best choice for me.

Next, transporting clothes! Since I volunteered for check-in, I noticed how some of the women were struggling to transports clothes to the hanging rack. I thought to myself, there has to be a better way besides laying the clothes on the seat/trunk without wrinkling them, BROOMSTICK!!
I was able to use a standard broomstick, taking the bottom half off and sticking it from one handle to the other and hung all my clothes across the bar! I was able to keep my clothes unwrinkled and easy in transport.

Volunteering, 3 shift with donating all times = 75% your commission
ITS WORTH IT! Time will fly by fast and swiftly when you are moving around making sure clothes/jewelry and etc. are being ran back to the floor. Also when you do a shift with a friend, time flys even more faster! I would highly HIGHLY recommend it!

Now for the good stuff, what did I purchase? I got 2 kimono’s, 1 top and a Scarlet Thread candle. Here is how I styled my purchases!
Kimono was $6, was 50% off on discount day. Romper was from Nectar during warehouse sale. Sandals, TjMaxx.

Kimono, was $7, brand new with tags. I paired it with a long slip dress and wedge heels.

Last but not least is this Aztec Top, $16 with new tags. I paired it pretty simple with jeans and sandal planforms.

In conclusion, I seriously am planning to do this event again next year! FOR SURE! I would highly highly recommend anyone that loves to sell, look into Scarlet Thread next year. It will only cost a small percentage to make moneyback on clothes that don’t bring you joy. Also if you chose to donate, you need nothing done besides selecting the “Donate” button on your tags, they turn it in!
I’m excited for next year, save up your great clothes, make some money! Hopefully I’ll see you there next year!
