Every year the Highland Springs Resort has a Lavender Festival, on the weekends (Friday’s included). Every year I always seem to forget to bring my camera and take pictures, this year I came prepared!
Rule of thumb, go on a Friday– when there isn’t alot of people. If you can’t go on a Friday, go on a Sunday, usually less crowded than Saturday. Why you ask it matters? First, the crops of lavender- you’ll get bombarded with people, kids, families wanting to take photos. Chances of trying to wait it out while you are taking photos in the middle of the field without anyone crossing by is difficult. So go Friday (from my personal experience).
Second, make sure to utlitze the fun activities provided for the little ones. They have things to do for the kids, tutorials on how they proceess their crops, so grab a map!
Third and final must, head over to the shops. They have products that will be displayed at the grounds, but there are really small shops that go by category, “Teas”, “Yarns”, “Olive Oils/Honey’s”, the list goes on.
My favorites is the Lavender Balsamic, I was on a hunt to find this yummy jar-the little shops ran out so fortunately they had more in the main lobby. How I usually use this balsamic vinaigrette is in my salads. It doesn’t have a overwhelming taste of flower, just hints/notes of it.
Lavender honey is just delicious with anything, teas, coffee, even in a dressing. The pair between the lavender mint tea and the honey is perfection!!! Delicious as an ice tea! Unfortunately they ran out online, hopefully they restock soon. Below is the link to their website.
Thanks for dropping by, if you do actually purchase any goodies from their shop, share how you used their products. Would love to hear!
