Celebrating Ride to 100 + Spinning

Last year if someone told me I wouldn’t step foot in a gym and have my usual spin classes for almost a year, I don’t think I would believe them. I remember like it was yesterday, having a quick conversation with a friend on how both of us weren’t planning to join the Thursday spin class because we both weren’t really in the best energetic mood. That day, as clear as I can remember, I drove down the street looking to the right (where the gym was) and with my grocery list, was headed to the grocery store. I figured next week would come and class will still be there (so I thought).

Balloons: By yourself truly 😁

A little background to how I found spin class. I had struggled to find community and a gym like atmosphere that was truly called my own for years after leaving CrossFit. It really started as a funny joke with my cousin. I thought to myself, “Heck! We’re paying for the classes, let’s try it.” Well the joke was on me. I ended up finding an amazing teacher, a small group of new friends, and on top of it all I felt great after a good sweat. I knew when Tuesdays and Thursdays came, that one hour slot was dedicated to me just checking-out and going hard in class.

Then the pandemic hit. Months went by, and I tried to get back into somewhat of routine of some sort of exercise. I tried HITT outside and inside. I tried YOGA online. Wasn’t the same. I started researching stationary bikes. As you can imagine, all types of workout equipment were a high time of backorders.

Since that was the case for a majority of spin bikes, I decided to take my time and do a little research on what type of bike I wanted (for the budget I had). If you missed that post about the pros and cons on the SCHWINN IC4, here the link below.

Which brings me to now, 100 rides later. It took me awhile to adjust, and still adjusting to the routine of spinnng but nevertheless its here. I hope this video gives you hope that even when things have changed, we are such resilient creatures. Sometimes it’s all about being more gracious to yourself and getting back on the bike.
