Indoor Spin Bike + On a budget & review

A year ago I would have thought that my indoor spin class would be a consistent activity I’d attend, unfortunately that changed because of the pandemic and I had to learn to adapt. I had found community at a local gym with amazing people on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a way to break sweat while connecting with others. Spin became my new form of workout.

So months went by, hoping that the gyms would open, waiting patiently. Unfortunately these months kept going and going and going. This meant one thing, I either had to figure something out with a different type of workout routine OR invest in a spin bike.

I started weighing out what types of bikes were out there. I loved the look of the Peloton but did not want to spend the money on one. I can share what my experience has been on the Schwinn IC4 since purchase. ( I am 3 rides away from 100, stay tune for that post)

Below is a small glimpse of what the “Peloton Digital” may possibly look like. The heart rate monitor on the bike is great, keeps you informed in how you’re performing. I opted out on using the arm gadget that the bike came with and used my “Polar” heart monitor. Since I’m already setup from using my classroom spin class, it was a great transition in using with my spin bike.

If you’re wanting to invest in a heart monitor, I enjoy the “Polar”.

The Pro and Con list above is my personal opinion. This of course changes with every individuals preferences. Even though I listed the bike not including a monitor, I find that streaming the classes from my TV has been so much better and way much bigger in size. The one thing I do wish it included was some type of connection to community. “Peloton Digital” does help connect with what’s going on but there is not much interaction besides viewing, seeing other digital users but that’s about it. The price point for membership though is worth it, $12.99.

If you’d like to do a little research for yourself on the Schwinn IC4, I’ll leave the link below and you’ll get to see in comparison a side by side list what the Schwinn vs Peloton has to offer. In my personal opinion, if you are on a budget, but still want to experience a “at home” type of spin class, I’d recommend the Schwinn IC4- great price point for a budget friendly spin bike.
