Balloons have come such a far long way from what I remember what they use to be as a kid. I remember the classic foil balloon filled with helium, in the classic 80s font that would bring nostalgia of childhood memories-the balloon comeback has definitely come back and stronger than ever.
A few things I’ve learned from the balloon garland movement:
- Balloons are much more flexible than you think. Bunching them together in a pod of 4 to 5 is key. It keeps the garland effect a beautiful full and lush feel.
- Color scheme your theme for the backdrop, it helps with what color flow you want to achieve. Bunching a common color and interchanging a grade of color gives a beautiful cascade of movement.
- Doubling up on balloons, meaning two balloons in one. This technique achieves a bold and full color. The balloon will not be as translucent and be much more rich and opaque in color.
- Use fresh flowers! Something about fresh flowers gives such a softer and beautiful finish to the balloon garland. Yes silk flowers last longer but I find that you’re stuck with random silk flowers and end up tossing them in the end. So why not go fresh? (Sometimes silk may only be your only choice but if you have an opportunity to go fresh, go fresh!)
Below I put together a short clip of the balloon garland I put together. Enjoy!
